It was a quote from Charmaine Solomon (Penguin 1992, 3rd edition) in reference to a visit by the Maharajah of Travancore, his queen, fourteen children, their extensive entourage and a russian prince known as Ivanovich Foreskinovitch.
"I have lost my head, said Pundit Singh, I am to cook the Vindaloo for the Maharajah but alas there is no pork."
