R I like the LSE thread just the way it is.
My suggestion was directed to the complainants as a solution...if they don't like the spirit of the thread then pointing out an alternative that may please them. I had no intention of creating any of those threads myself...but I have seen it done elsewhere and it does provide a good archival resource...
Thing that I took issue with was direct criticism of a poster's genuine contribution and appreciated flavouring to the thread.
