Thanks for the reasoning and your other holds.
I agree the barriers to entry are massive.
I suppose I am in a bigger hurry to increase my capital - I need to get a descent nest egg so I can retire and buy a house off the farm and near the coast (within 100 metres my wife says!!) and only a few more years to get it.
My holdings from highest to lowest dollar value with some % shown @2/9/16
I sell 50% when a share doubles in price - not strickly adhered to, depends how many I have, I like to keep each holding to less than 10% of portfolio.
This is my SMSF portfolio, I own just a few AMP I inherited in my own name, will sell if they ever get above $6.....

    DTL - 7% of portfolio (up 75%)
    TNE - (up 93%)
    WEB - have sold 50% (up 194%)
    BAP - (up 34%)
    HSN - sold 50% (up 217%)
    ALU - (up 105%)
    APX - (up 46%)
    WLL - (up 69%)
    MNF - (up 21%)
    APO - (down 15%)
APE - (up 16%) - added this year to SMSF - had for a long time in private hands
    CGL - 4% of holdings (up 14%)
VTG - (up 121%) - this is a rocket, only bought in December last year
    TPM - (up 68%)
    RCG - sold 50% (up 133%)
    CDA - (up 4%) - latest buy
    GTK - (up 40%)
    TME - 2% of holding (up 35%)
    OML - (down 11%)
EVT - (up 1%) - also latest buy
    GNG - (up 3%)
    IRI - (up 12%)
    AMA - 1.6% of holding (up 11%)

I had IPH and lost money, will not likely go there again as I really don't understand the business. APX is I think a fabulous company and anytime is a good time to buy them if you want my opinion. HSN is very stable and GTK is a NZ equivalent. BAP is a goody too I reckon.
The above portfolio is up 17% since July 1, so I'm happy.

    Cheers,
