bonza, I've lived in countries where the media has been restricted from creating controversy and divisions within the society. I saw it as desirable in those societies that were struggling to bring unity and stability in the wake of independence movements or war. Australia is supposedly beyond that, but with immigration since WW2 , most Australians have only came face to face with the concept of having to understand and accept the culture of others in this time. Given the constant controversies over such issues it appears that for many, we are only now increasingly coming to the situation that other countries have long passed.
