5G is a transport layer built into a chip . Anything that wants to talk via 5G will be able to if required once that chip is installed.

5G will be made available in phones first off. New chip with 5G, 4GX, 4G, 3G, Edge, etc....all backward compatible. If ADRC is programmed to use the 5G layer it will once it has connection to a 5G receiver.

For Phones for instance....the tower you connect to would have to have a 5G receiver installed in order to use it. Otherwise it will travel done the transport layers until it finds a receiver will to accept it. On trains you can watch your mobile pinging towers and grabbing a receiver that might be 4G or 3G depending on how much load in on the tower.

So, technically 5G has nothing to do with ADRC or Intel Quark....it will become an industry transport layer once telco's make towers to handle.

As for 5G boards, Intel or not....they will come as well in time. The Intel IOT Gateway will be upgraded one day to handle 5G because currently 5G is in its infancy ( the standard has not even been ratified I believe.) but it is being pushed rapidly into production because there is an overwhelming requirement to move data quicker. The world is using data at an astounding rate and the infrastructure is struggling to keep up....so 5G will arrive sooner than we think.
