Interesting reading that post of ncrmedia. It is located here..

and a couple of highlights for me were
1... the information I am getting from financial contacts within the banking industry is that major oil companies like BP, Exxon, Chevron, Shell, etc. are using proxies to heavily short 'lithium'. The reason should be somewhat obvious...but the method is certainly questionable.

2... I have talked to a number of banking and brokerage contacts who have told me that the oil companies are trying very hard to discourage investment in lithium producers...and they certainly have the money to bully the industry. Whether this attempt to stunt the growth of lithium is successful or not depends more on the public, and government's determination to clean up the air we breath.

3... Personally....I think they realize they can no longer hold back the lithium tide and are shopping for lithium producers by shorting several companies and trying to flush investors out so they can purchase a few of these companies themselves or through proxies.

4...You can muse and make conjectures of different scenarios that have caused this downdraft across the board....but the oil companies are the only ones with the means and the incentive to try and 'stop' and entire industry from forming and growing. Give it some thought...we
may be talking about BP Lithium in the next decade..stay tuned.

So this theory is Oil companies trying to get in on the act. It does make some sense to me, especially when put in the light of what Goldman-Sachs stated in a headline last year.
    Lithium is The New Gasoline..

Perhaps they really meant what they were saying, telling us that oil  companies were coming into the field in a big way??

Here I was thinking it would be one of the major battery manufacturers looking to buy us and or other companies, but I never thought of oil companies, but if they can't make money on oil, then staying in energy does make some sense. There was BP Solar a few years ago, so they are not sitting idly by.
As the biggest available lithium resource from hard rock, it would certainly put the cat amongst the pidgeons if an oil company made the first bid for us!!!
