The current fad used to analyse things political is to use "The Pub Test".

A pub test is a rather nebulous tool because you need to nominate the time as the pub test will evolve in proportion to the blood alcohol percentage in the pub drinkers.

At a guess I'd reckon that Mal would prefer a noon pub test whereas TA would prefer a 8pm test.

Now if Mal moved to the right in a genuine way then one would expect his pub test stats to improve.

I for one would speak a bit more favourably about Mal if he sinks his teeth into Shorten over Dastyari.

Now if he really got stuck into all of Shorten's betrayals of union members, but sadly it will never happen.

There was a time in History not that long ago Parliamentarians were intoxicated while voting in the house of Parliament... The Pub Test is often a More common sense test than what the ivory tower considers common...
