The selloff in emerging copper producers is a bit bizarre. I can understand BHP selling off. But producers bringing on new mines in a year or two should not get slammed so hard. The LME copper price has remained very stable: Average since May 1: $5927 per tonne, Average since July 1 $6014 per tonne Average since Sep 1 $6057 per tonne Average since Oct 1 $6026 per tonne and average since 1 Nov $6136 per tonne (27 month closed Friday at $6070 per tonne); EQN has been especially hard hit given economics has been run at $4000 per tonne giving 1.5 year capex payout.
