The reference to grid scale has nothing to do with the weight. That is, a electricity network (poles, wires, cables, etc.) is commonly referred to as an electricity grid, and scale simply means that the battery is large by comparison as a grid scale battery/inverter is supplying many houses, shops, etc. compared to a domestic scale battery/inverter which supplies only a single house.
