From todays The Australian by Michael West. Rene's nickel and dimes
WHILE we're on PNG we might turn to nickel, gold and copper with a few words on Highlands Pacific.
Though the stock has doubled in the past month (Rene's been buying it) it still carries a huge discount for PNG's sovereign risk.
Noranda is farming into Highlands' big-blue-sky Freida River copper project, there's a one million ounce gold resource (and growing) in Kainantu and the Ramu nickel project.
Kainantu is shaping up well with reasoned intersections up to a spectacular 60g/t. A high-grade system to be sure.
And though there's legal argy-bargy between Highlands and Orogen over Ramu, the parties are not too far away, they say, from a settlement.
