Big call by founder of Goldcorp, Rob McEwen. Calling for $1900 gold by year end.

I hope he is wrong with the timing because that would possibly need some significantly negative events. As for the target over a longer period?
It seems like a big call at first glance but I remember trading gold stocks off the lows when gold was around $250. I was looking for a big (100%) move to $500. I remember calls near that time (after the uptrend became clear) for gold to regain its historic highs of $800 and thinking that was too big a move from under $300. Not only did it make it to $800, it kept going all the way to $1900. So much for a big move to $500!
$1300 to $1900 looks like a very tame move by comparison. History shows that even what looks like too big a call at the time can prove to be very conservative with hindsight.
Putting it in a nutshell, we are in a sector where fortunes can be made or lost. When its trending down beware. When its trending up we can easily sell way too early. I'm hoping we are just at the early stage of a new uptrend which will take out the previous high and go much higher. The expansion to the worlds money supply easily justifies it. We might just need a trigger. My thoughts are the trigger will be any hint of inflation starting to get traction. Upward interest rates pressure may signal inflation expectations. For now though we are hardly seeing interest rate rises and most economies won't be able to tolerate them given record debt levels. That tells me that even if inflation begins to appear, interest rate increases will have to be modest and gold could soar under those circumstances to new highs.
Meantime, ORR's scoping study suggests plenty of room for strong upside without the need for higher gold prices and management is experienced enough to see it happen.
