Totally agree with your comments and I have no qualms about paying for the convenience for such uses.
My objection is paying for what was previously historical a business expense, as a cost to me to receive that info.
As an example, a bank statement which the bank had to pay for stamps, envelope and paper etc. Now to receive this digitally involves a cost to me. My discussion also includes paper info that was mailed by Govt depts free of charge.
What's worse is that you are are being corralled by business and govt to uses the Internet even thou their is a solution to closely replicate the mail equivalent, digitally.
Had discussions with IT specialists and Mathematics who say it's doable
Usual comments sent out to use the Internet is as following: receiving or accessing electronically reduces the company's cost. Who is paying for the reduction in the companies cost; the user off cause?
I take the same attitude as big business trying too penny pinch for every cent saving, but on a smaller scale.

Do you also try to claim back the cost of the phone call when ordering takeaway, or booking a table at a restaurant? What do you see as the difference?
