Unless you were a six year old with an adult brain who was given all the written work of the class of 50 students to assess, could judge each student's level of comprehension and listen to every child's reading, noting their errors whenever they occurred.
I remember thinking the same as you about my classmates. Having read thousands and thousands of pages of words written by students since entering teaching in my late 20's, I then knew that idea was totally wrong. A teacher is in a unique position. They teach approx. 100 students (or more) each term. There are 4 terms in the year. After a while, I could recognise a child's handwriting before I read their name on the top of their paper. A five year old absolutely cannot do that! Sorry, mogga. That is not possible. After 25 years of teaching, I must have learned something about the English standards of my students, don't you reckon? To mount such an argument as yours, is simply risible.
But I have written that before and I would need much persuading to believe otherwise.

Very simple philosophy with the Christian Brothers pic
If you weren't up to speed with the pack
you got punished out in from of the class
they took no prisoners
very un-PC
but very effective!
I've got the scars to prove it
but they belted us for our good they kept telling us
and now I believe them!
