re: metals up the fly in the ointment for bhp on monday is the exchange rate.. specifically the fall in the usd vs euro and some others ... given that metals are mostly priced in usd, and higher price needs to be translated into aud to get an idea of the impact on profits... but bhp has a natural hedge against currency fluctuations in some respects because the geographical diversity of its operations and probably has some financial hedging as well, but I'm not aware of the extent of these hedges. Has anyone seen any modelling of the effects of currency changes on bhp?
