Trouble is that we don't have grid scale batteries or other large forms of storage yet . They are a crucial part of the transition .

And yet more and more renewables are being added everyday which makes coal less economical if it can't run 24/7 . At some point the operators of cfps will be forced to shutdown their money losing stations .

What happens in the interim ?
