Unfortunately the wowsers and Greenies have seen to Nuclear being bashed out of potential use even though it is probably the best options for the world as a whole until there is some magical mixture of renewables.
There's even towns in Norway and Sweden fighting for the right to process and store the waste products as they have no issues with it and it can be done in incredibly safe ways. Heck worst case if you get enough just shoot that shit into the sun.
