the growth in data usage is phenomenal as you elude to, but the cost to the consumer is still static.
that's why the telco space is going nowhere- you have a data (price) war in full swing and now that TPG and VOC have grown bigger from merger synergies, they then try and compete with Telstra, and before you know it, they are all cutting profit margin to keep churn in check.
most deals now are unlimited broadband at the same price of 50GB only a while back.
the data usage by the consumer is totally governed by what the consumer is prepared to pay for.
about the only real growth will be in high tech mobile like TLS 5G, but that is a couple of years away .
ps- i just wonder if the real reason Spencely sold out was because of this . then again, Grist bought in again at a much depressed SP than he sold, but that was only a token gesture anyway.
maybe an inquiry into their dealings would be warranted as their initial purchase price was a lot less than 60cents.
