re: the black gold status.. oil refills tangrams.....this info forms a bit of a subculture along the lines of "they don't want us to know this"....."they want to keep oil prices high"...."they use this as an excuse for wars" etc......
This "they" is very busy it would seem .
I did once ask a geologist about this (my cousin is one) and not only that a geo who works for BP (good at finding mud and water then)...my cous seems to think the idea of replenishing oil wells makes perfect sense. He even has an open mind as to whether oil is a by product of bacteriological action deep within the earth's mantle. This is on the basis that the chemical footprint of oil is pretty much the same everywhere (it's "dna" if you like) .....and yes I know oil doesn't really have dna.
He once told me "everyone knows oil doesn't come from dinosaurs and old plants" - which was news to me at the time....
