Reverting back to my previous post and the Alliance Minerals Preso of early Sept 2016.
Depth of TAW  initial drill programme now well way states an average depth of exploration holes at 80 metres .
Also ( separately ) on the Alliance Minerals website under Operations re tantulum is extracted below .
Therefore , taking an educated guess , one might assume that Phase I drilling is (partially at least ) to test the correlation of the tantalum and lithium components mixed together ( maybe layered separately , or combined?) , but simply that the sum of the two parts gives the best bang for the buck , when the add on plant for lithium is installed .
Then phase 2 drilling , after analysis of Phase 1 , might be to test depths below 80 metres .
Whilst I can't determine if any current drilling is from "in pit" ie base of Alliance tantalum excavation , I don't think so ....but happy that TAW is testing where they think its the best new fertile spodumene ground .
As I see it , if Taw can find good ( economic )grades ( between 1 -2% ) at below 80 metres , its a real advantage over some of the other ASX lithium runners , that have had substantial re-ratings over TAW  on published drilling results.
Of course --you have to look at holes being sub grade to , for market re-action !But recent buying isn't suggesting that

The Bald Hill Project is proposed to be an open pit mining operation, carried out by a contractor, comprising open pit excavation techniques using 65 tonne excavators and 55 tonne dump trucks. The open pits are expected to be relatively shallow, ranging from 35m to 65m deep. Pegmatite Ore will be mined selectively.
