rossing mine

Has anyone seen or read this? The word is that the EXT ore is going to be processed at Rossing. That's going to be a bit hard if the Plant is running at full capasity in 2007 with u from there own mine. Maybe somebody can tell me some other way to process the ore.

Rössing, one of the world’s largest open pit uranium mines, is situated in the Namib Desert, west of the Namibian capital Windhoek and 65 kilometres inland from the coastal town of Swakopmund.

Rössing’s production target for this year is at 3,500 tonnes – a 5.4 percent lower output than last year’s 3,711 tonnes – the highest since 1990 - as the mine prepares to reach its full production capacity of 4,000 tonnes per annum by 2007.

It is currently engaged in the implementation of its Life-of-Mine Expansion project, which was approved by the Rio Tinto Group, which controls a 68.6 percent equity in the company, in December 2005.

The project aims at extending the life span of the mine beyond 2016 and involves a total capital expenditure of US$112 million.

The mine employs 915 people.
