I suspect Mr Spenceley changed his mind regarding his new career as "asset manager" within MHOR, quite difficult for an overactive and successful CEO to just "pick stocks", not much fun in that.
So after solding his shares and also receiving tons of emails why he was leaving vocus to burry himself at MHOR .... Well he reconsidered it and try this desesperate coup. I think we are not naive, this new CEO for 2017 proposed by mr Grist and Spenceley was indeed Mr spenceley or they wouldn't bother that much if it wasn't the case .... Quite sure he wanted the job since the beginning but M2 and vocus boards didn t get along on that before the merger. It was M2 or being swallowed by TPG.
Just a personal opinion ofc. I'm open to any theories for this bizarre behavior ....
Anyway I think the company is better off now the ego battle over ! Mr Horth did a fantastic job at the helm of M2 after all.
