I was also furious with ANZ for taking $25 from me. Most companies do retain the balance if you opt out so keep an eye on it....Just a little tip from me to consider to avoid this scam...instead of opting out of DRP altogether, change your participation level to a couple of shares only and get the majority in cash...Then carry forward won't be lost...I think a partial enrolment can be any number of shares, say 1...of course it might be smarter to have a few participate else the carry forward will only accrue...then switch between those settings at your desire....if the residual drops to a few shekels only then you could cancel DRP altogether? This strategy enables you to reduce the DRP risks when it is a bad investment due to high prices and/or falling markets and to manage the carry forward if you want to avoid losing it.
