Exactly borks, this is my comment on the climate council page after all the crazies were celebrating the fracking ban in Victoria a few months back on their face book page. I was about the only non celebratory post amounst the lot but I shut a few of the clowns up!! And You're dead right about artist/ polies it's sad but true and unfortunately engineers have trouble communicating. Thankfully CTP has a rational scientifically minded lawyer like RC.
whats with all the positive sentiment? There are far bigger fish to fry but fracking has unfortunately been negatively sensationalised to the point of no return! Completely unjust. Fracking is not a new practice and its been common "safe" practice in the O& G industry for many years. Sure, if it's not regulated, like anything, the risks can easily outweigh the returns. I mean sure, you deserve a speeding fine if you're doing 110 in a school zone but 110 is plenty safe on plenty roads. Gas Land is an example is a one eyed anti-fracking sensationalist movie and unfortunately fracking is the butt of the joke! Blanket moratorium action is silly behaviour from politicians. The only way to save gas jobs in this country is to explore onshore safely and encourage competition in the established network. By taking this route the government has essentially given the finger to all gas related manufacturing jobs in the country in spite of our national investment and commitment to a global LNG. It's just silly. You can throw a blanket over brown coal for all I care. Electricity in Victoria is the worst and the dirtiest in the country and it mucks up the atmosphere far more than safe fracking. Yes... safe fracking.. Yes.... Fracking is safe with proper regulation! There are years of proof of this. Yet Brown coal will never be safe!!!!
