Certainly Abraham knew and used God's personal name. His name means 'He Causes to Become', and it was only in the sense that Jehovah had not revealed that to be the case by fulfilling his promises prior to Moses day that Ex 6:3 is to be understood.
It was the same with Moses. He was spoken to by an angel representing Jehovah.
