Now if you look at your graph of house prices vs gold you'll see what I think is something that is deep in the psyche of people and is the key to why manias in gold completely dwarf other manias. The houses illustrated are all coloured not in terracotta, timber or concrete but rather in gold. Moreover they are illustrated like fungible bars of gold with the appropriate lustre to their edges.
That's a powerful deep seated message there for those who understand.
