yup - we had to rely on a lot of low-tech solutions in situations where access to proper gear was impossible.
glass bottles placed on door knobs/handles that come crashing down in case someone turns the door knob/handle is more effective than some alarm systems
Paracord strung through cans for an outside perimeter can easily be transitioned to fishing lines on the inside of a large property.
Just had a chat with a bloke during training this arvo (his background is exec protect/PMC work overseas) and he was telling us about the significance of establishing a soft perimeter and a hard perimeter in hostile AOs. Perhaps that's something to think about for people living in rural areas with a large acreage. Soft perimeter = you are alerted once this is breached and have time to prep. Hard perimeter = countermeasures/obstacles are already established or can be readily deployed to ensure this line can not be crossed.
