im pretty sure that they said the 64m was also in sandstone - not just the 2m.....pretty damn sure.

I remember that announcement being strange in that it in one paragraph it said it hit 64m of flourescence from about 1815 onwards and also gas at about the same interval in sandstone..........it then went on to say in the very next paragraph that the shallowest objective is approximately 2200 also in sandstone????

.....i guess that people got exceited thinking there may be constant flourescene all the way to the approx target zone of 2200.....very doubtful really as that would result in a 400m possible column.

It actually turned out that there was only another 2-3m after the 64 for a total of 67....people were obviously disappointed but there is certainly nothing to suggest this is a dud as they expect approx 70m and found 67...pretty close.

The only worry is it is almost 400m out from where they thought it would be. If they didnt case it before and drilled right into it not expecting it this early it may collapse on itself but I also remember a delay before I bought in which I thought was casing so that also isnt really an issue.

the 400m discrepency seems a lot but they were looking for approx 70m in sandstone and thats what there appears to be evidence of.

They are only obliged to update the market on a weekly basis it seems. Im not sure what some people are expecting really. I can also see advantages to not blowing your whistle too early. I dont need volatility in the SP as I dont day trade so Im happy to wait until they know for sure.

From my previous experience watching COE's announcments. They get a pretty good idea from both wireline logging and Drill Stem Test's (or DST's) whats actually down there but thats only half the story - they dont always get correct flow rates if at all. The DST can often fail too and if it fails too many times they dont bother and plug it and maybe bring a workover rig back at a later date when available, that can take months.

If the DST's and logging look good they blow up the casing (sounds dramatic but they just perforate it) and it allows oil to flow into the casing / production casing. I think thats what COE said in the last Callawonga announcement anyway.

I have a very limited understanding of this stuff and Im relying on my memory mostly of COE's announcments but they have been quite for some time now so its hard to remember. Im pretty sure callawonga's total depth was shallower than heron's first target.

BKP did say it would take 3 months to complete the drilling let alone the testing and I probably wouldnt be surprised if we hear very little before they have the total picture - but like everyone else Im still keen to hear any positive info and as far as I can tell its only been positive thus far.

Maybe someone can explain the posible relevance / implications of what they found at approx 1800m matching what they were tageting at 2200m.....my positive side tells me its exactly what they were looking for only shallower....my negative side....well it just doesnt exist right now.........they still a lower / larger target.

For those of you that think the top section is a dud can you please point out which part of what ever announcment spells that out? Just so I know.

Anyway - lets see what they say tomorrow morning.

Im also biased as I hold oppies (14.5c) and shares (25c).......wouldve entered way before the recent raising even - if I had the money that is.
