Isn't it case in the US that the jury decides the sentence ? or have I been watching too much TV.

On the topic ... thought I posted already on this thread but it seems to have dissappeared....

I don't see the death penalty as revenge or inhumane etc. Putting myself in the place of the convicted criminal (fellow human being if you want to take that stance)... 15 - 20 years caged up like an animal v's death in 30 seconds. I know which option I would prefe r, but maybe I'm weird.

I'm not talking about the social/religious/moral issues, just the direct effect on the people most directly concerned - to me the death penalty is a win/win for all concerned - the victim''s family, the crim and the crim's family
