Yep, we don't need a foreign monarch ruling over us, not anymore.
Our Constitution needs a complete overhaul, and so do the various State ones.
In fact, if we think big enough, why not abolish the States altogether, and devolve them into regional councils - get rid of Local government as well.
Then we could have 1 Fed govt, and a series of regional administrations.
Cut the red tape, cut the fat cats, get rid of 9 different police, education, transport and health departments etc.
We could easily save a hundred billion a year imo if we did this.
Also, we need a directly elected ceremonial head of state that is an Australian, not a foreigner, and that person should play no part in the day to day political process, but be the person that holds all the current power of the Monarch / G-G at the moment.
Time to get real. Time to grow up.

More election campaigns? I'd hate to see us become more like the U.S. system with huge money being wasted on presidential campaigns. I used to support a republic, I now say if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I'd keep state govt and get rid of local govt
