Fonterra is one of the worlds largest exporters of dairy products. The product was expired, not contaminated and not onsold under the Fonterra brand or by Fonterra employees. It was also adult milk powder, nothing to do with infant formula. Although the markets sees all dairy and dairy associated companies as the same thing.
If anything it confirms how important provenance is, and will only strengthen the daigou and offical channel sales of dairy products, all of which are fully imported.
The link to BAL is tenuous at best, and will have no impact on their business or reputation, other than on HC perhaps, I'm sure A2M holders will remind us at some point, although, if anything it's more of a risk to brand 'New Zealand" and it's safety. But again, I doubt there will be any long lasting impacts from this for NZ as a whole.
The market as a whole is jumping at shadows at the moment, it's a sell first and ask questions later feel.
GTAH! BAL will prevail!
