You make good points here and I agree with you. I do still feel his 'recklessness' was motivated by the desire to help the patients rather than anything else, and as you note, they would have consented to the procedure. It is an unfortunate circumstance on several levels, and the consequences of the complications evidently outweighed what could have been anticipated (side effects from cannabis therapeutics tend to be minimal, at least when compared to a lot synthesised 'big pharma' chems).
Katelaris' flippancy with the 'higher power' comment is because he has chased by these institutions his whole career. This is the first time I have heard of any sort of complications for his patients. However, this doesn't excuse it - I'm offering an explanation rather than a justification.
Nevertheless, it was an untested procedure (all the more reason to have experimented more safely) and said institutions would have been trying to prevent something like this from occurring (giving them the benefit of the doubt here, without my tinfoil hat on!!!).
Again, as you noted, directly injecting a substance of undetermined potency carries considerably more risks than if it were orally administered or even smoked.
These sorts of reasons are why we both are holders of MXC, as they are doing everything above the board and by the books, so as to prevent even the possibility of a situation like this from occurring.
