I believe the difference may be explained by the increase in drainage area each time they shut in for extended periods. Therefore they need to pump for a longer period at those peak rates to get the desorption to come on. But when it does come on they should be accessing a greater amount of coal (increased drainage area) and therefore gas rates should ultimately climb to greater rates than they would have previously.

In short, longer to get to desorption but larger EUR's as a result of that drainage area increase.
