I agree. I was very excited to give it a test run. Have been a supporter of the app and still love the tech behind it if they can deliver what they have promised. However, after using the app, I am a little disappointed with the performance so far. Haven't really noticed a big jump in speed at all in real world testing. If anything, I think video has slowed down.

I am on 3G, yes I know, I will get to 4G eventually, soon enough. I could stream HD in 3G before and I can stream in HD on 3G with the app now, so no real world advantage here. I posted before that the problem could be that data plans are getting cheaper and cheaper, it is following the exact same path as fixed broadband services, and we will eventually get to the stage where massive data plans are the norm. Therefore I do not see WGL doing well in AUS/NZ due to decent speeds already available and decent size data plans, will await to see some confirmed subscriptions and releases to other regions.

I do however, see some big advantages in the chip, if they can sort out the lag issues. Everything from online gaming where lag is king to autonomous cars sending real time info to the driver. This has great potential.

On another note, does anyone think that SYT has beaten WGL to the punch on data savings with their business model, will this type of sponsored data reduced the effectiveness of WGL to entice subscribers? Maybe not, but if you had the 2 side by side, one free and the other $5/month, which would you go for?
