As far as I understood, no country ever formally signed up to the TPP. After 9 years, negotiations had just about concluded so that they all could. So Trump needs to take no specific action, he just has to say the US are no longer up for it and 9 years of time and effort just went up in smoke. Other countries could go ahead without them, but as Japanese PM Abe has said, it's dead. Note, it never included China, but it hands them a golden opportunity to seize the moment and lead free trade in the Asia-PAC region if they choose. President Xi has indicated this is their intention. How ironic, China leading the world in free trade while US withdraws into isolationism. The point of highlighting this news is that it demonstrates Trump is serious about issues he campaigned on. He has said he will impose a 45% tariff on Chinese imports. No doubt now that this is his agenda. The Chinese must retaliate whether they like it or not and a US/China trade war is inevitable. Chinese RE supply to US and others will be impacted. Some people need to consider their supply options and give AL a bell PDQ.
