From ASX ann. June 21 2016
Compartive market storage charge : Over $140 per tonne
Nagambie storage charge : Commercially less than $140 per tonne.
Now if Nagambie Resources is telling fibs...then they would be in dire straits.
It is true that CLEAN bricks, asphalt, and normal soils can be dumped for around $20 per tonne in my area .BUT PASS is another story. and the treatment of such soils with lime or other neutralizing agent on such soils , along with monitoring
is part of the cost that adds up to considerably more than 19$.
One way to Prevent oxidation
is to
provide an agent to neutralise acid as it is produced
Typically, this would involve mixing the acid sulfate soil
with lime or another neutralising agent, at
predetermined rates. The rate of lime application must
be managed carefully to avoid mobilisation of other
compounds in soil such as ammonia. Verification
testing should be carried out following treatment to
confirm an acceptable rate of neutralisation.
another way is to minimize oxidation rate
This may include covering (capping) exposed material
with low permeability soil (such as clay) to reduce
oxygen availability and to prevent infiltration of water,
reducing the potential for leaching. Additional
methods may include securing high-density
polyethylene (HDPE) sheeting over acid sulfate soils
for short periods, or controlling bacteria and other
limiting factors (e.g. alkalinity) by either physical or
chemical means to reduce oxidation rate.
OR
Prevent oxidation
This may include placing PASS into an anaerobic
environment, usually below the water table.
However,
ASS must NOT be disposed of below the water table
WITHOUT PRIOR NEUTRALIZATION or implemented control
measures.
$14 to $19 to cover the costs. ??????? HMMMM
Please list those sites where PASS can be off loaded for less than $20 as there are those who would like to verify your words.
Cleanaway is trying to enlarge their landfill site and number of trucks that would carry waste ; B-double trucks, each 26 metres long, would have to cover UP TO 130 km round trip to collect their loads from city transfer stations
How much time (and money) would it take to stop at each depot and travel on city thoroughfares, between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m.? (proposed times of operation)
