Dysprosium oxide prices steady, business quiet

BEIJING (Info-RE) 24-Nov-16 Dysprosium oxide prices have maintained relatively steady over the past few days with most buyers staying on the sidelines and quiet business reported.
Market sources said that 99% dysprosium oxide is currently available about RMB1,230/kg($178/kg) for the time being, similar to prices seen at the start of the week.
Higher offers of about RMB1,240-1250/kg($179/kg-181/kg) are also being quoted by suppliers who are not very keen to sell from stocks right now. Nonetheless, buyers are reluctant to accept high levels right now because of relatively ample availability around the market as well as the uncertain government stockpile buying of rare earths.
Meanwhile, ferro-dysprosium (Dy 80%) is being quoted about RMB1,250-1,260/kg($181-182/kg) for the moment, and consumers have been replenishing stocks in small amounts according to their orders from clients.
A number of market players, nonetheless, are still cautious about dysprosium market outlook in the near future because of the plentiful domestic stocks. Meanwhile, the uncertainty in China’s national stockpile buying of rare earths has also put some pressure on dysprosium prices.
