While Kalbarri might not need additional capacity, (above what they are getting from this project) just yet, other big users of electricity are not far away.
There are a number of mines in the area that would be reliant on diesel for power generation, perhaps they would like to tap in as well.
The CSIRO Murchison Square Kilometre Array is not far away (as far as the crow flies) either.
It might be possible that a large wave energy/solar/wind hybrid micro grid off Kalbarrie could provide power for a variety of users in that part of the world.
The added benefit of wave energy is that it would reduce the amount of storage required to cover the intermittency of wind and solar energy.
Wave energy in that part of the world is virtually 24/7 365 days of the year.
By defraying the costs among a number of users, a big micro grid becomes viable.
For that matter, excess power could be sent back down the line to Geraldton, which is already connected.
