BUSHFIRE UPDATE - 9 January, 2007 - 10.30am

The main Walhalla Road is OPEN to all traffic.

Walhalla is back to normal and has returned to full operation.

The Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine is conducting tours daily at 12noon, 2pm and 3pm during the holidays. The Walhalla Goldfields Railway is operating a "shuttle" from Walhalla to Happy Creek daily from Walhalla. Trains depart at 11am, 12noon, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. The round trip takes about 30 minutes. Walhalla's Star Hotel is open for accommodation and the GreyHorse Cafe is open daily for coffee and cake. Smoke may continue in the next week or so as more back burning occurs around Walhalla.
