It is an inter-glacial period that began 10000 years ago. Sea levels rose 140m over a 2 thousand year period between 12000 and 10000 years ago - that is some serious heat and melting right there at 7m / century. Now sea level rise is 3.5 mm per year or 3.5 cm per decade or 35 cm per century and according to climate doom sayers the world is in peril.
Until this interglacial period ends its going to be nice and warm and all the land mass above about 40 degrees to 80 degrees lattitude can grow food for th 7 billion people. When we can only grow food 30 degrees either side of the equator all of the people at higher lattitudes will not be happy (i.e. most of the people)
As you say policy drives governments to conclude a causal factor that is taxable rather than natural forces which are untaxable.
