    That's the same numbers I had already worked out (the 2 times thing) so that's good for confirmation. In the desorption results the gas content is about 3-4 m3/t so double that would be up to 8 m3/t which is what I'd calculated if it was 85-90% saturated. That's still very low for a coal at such depth but I think it's a result of the low rank and high temperature. High temperatures give a lower sorption capacity (because of the molecules have more energy so they don't stick to the coal as well) and low rank generally means the coal has lower internal surface area which means not as much area for the molecules to stick to.

    I don't buy the "explosive release of gas" thing - in fact, if that did happen it should actually overestimate the gas, not underestimate it. These guys come up with some crazy ideas sometimes! Oh well, not important.
