jake0002, my personal take is that consolidation as witnessesd with Santos and Origin to be the sensible moves to make. It is to early to predict what is to happen with central but stories in the press indicate that central and quadrant would make good synergies. This information was published in the AFR not long ago

The spin off are required and the Qantas spin off into jetstar being a good example as to how these spin off may play out for Origin and Santos.

Central has a solid position with its NT assest, clealy Santos sees value as they have indicated this morning that the Amadeus Basin which includes Mt Kitty and Magee are tier levl 1, meaning the Amadeus basi is priority for growth. This information alone provides a significant boost for Central but adds complexities to any take over potentials due to commitmnts required to Santos and legal implications of contract requirements.

In regards as to how the Santos pin off shall affest Central, this IMHO will have little bearing but provides an indication to the market that drilling and exploration will be facilitated as being a core asset as documented by Santos annoucement this morning. Santos spinning its assest does not affect central position in relation to NT as it is maintained core asset.
