I'll admit that I am sceptical about the phone call however those comment are unlikely to be classed as insider trading.

The reason I say this as to be an offence the information needs to be able to "materially impact the price or value of a financial product" s1043A Corps Act

It is unlikely that this information would impact the price especially since the market generally expects an announcement around then anyway.

If Richard did say that, well done for extracting the information.
