Bob Hawke disconnected Australia from the monachy in the late 1980's we just retain symbolic links, I am ambivilant about a change, I am not descended from the British, logically I accept that Australia is an independant country with links to the UK and US generally, our political system is UK based ,IMO to our advantage, we could change the name of the GG to President without any great issue I believe, the Monachy has no direct role in Australia except that she is revered and respected by many,
MT has catagorically stated that no change will even be though about whilst Elizabeth reigns, so what is all the fuss about.

I beleive we should all get a copy of our Constitution and just see how much protection it gives the citizen, the last this IMO we need is to try to codify our commonsense responsibilities, you then hand power over to the judiciary.
