Probably my last post until after Xmas so here goes:

I find it important when considering "What will be the next big thing" in the field of technology advancement that at least some thought be given to the past. The impact of smartphones on society; the internet; personal computers; television; transistor radios; nuclear; aviation; internal combustion; steam engines.

Elon Musk has stated to look at technology that will present the highest net benefit to the most people.

Steve Jobs said to look for technologies that help people do what they do best.

Communication and Automation have to be contenders as well as Clean Energy.

Communication on a "link everybody and everything" level plus Clean Energy and Automation on an "industrial" scale have to be up there.

What all of this doesn't guarantee is that Thred will be the next big thing. It's the pioneering of such technologies that is the important thing.

I personally think that outside of the obviously brilliant core functionality of contact aggregation across social spheres enabling a better way to communicate, that the most critical element of success for the Thred business is the engineering of a viral environment from which they can grow both affiliates and users.

Personally I don't think it's so much about the number of total downloads although that's good as an early touch point on the pulse of the business. What's more important in my mind will be the trending numbers of monthly active users (reflecting adoption rates) that will be the true measuring stick of the success of the company and its ability to sustain a long term future.

Are we "the" next big thing? Statistically probably not. But we could be within the field of social connectedness. And ultimately that's what's keeping me here to find out.
