I paid 3.5k for a 2 X Speed scsi CD burner when they first came out..
Used to pay $30 for a blank Kodak CD - wasn't worth making / copying music CD's coz you could buy them for about 20 from the shop.. Encyclopaedia Britannica on the other hand was still $1000 on CD..
Also paid 12k for a half D1 MPEG capture card - so we could put video from a VHS tape onto a CD..
The hardest thing about that in about 1992 was trying to convince people that you could actually put video on a CD - all 74 minutes of it! Used to charge $2 a minute for something every video card in world does for free these days!
