I don't expect him to split. He seems too comfortable and it may be just a way of putting pressure on Mal. Christensen from Qld may be the one to split.
I would say that his (Cory) branch members are piling the pressure on him. After all it is the city of churches.
Also I would expect that his branch members would be white hot with anger towards the state ALP govt. So when Malcolm starts talking like Weatherill then his branch may very well begin talking about splitting.
As for his views being fringe. Branch members in SA will have a vastly different view to North Shore members. So what looks fringe in NSW may be normal in the "wastelands" of SA.
