The pyrite IS the fuel source, that's why he mentions it as a clean energy source because it is processing waste material i.e. similar to a biomass plant. Iron sulphide (FeS2 or Pyrite) will burn on it's own. Probably requires an initial gas to get it heated and start the fire burning though.
