You seem to be blind to how much of a dud Abbott was, he had LNP trailing in the polls badly for 18 conservative months and polled worse than Gillard and Shorten.
Turnbull has a long way to go to even get close to how bad Abbott was, but hey don't let the facts get in the way of your fantasy
