What a great year 2016 has been, well my 5 Grander only started in September so 4 months, so a great 4 months lol.

Didn't expect that in such a short time frame or even at all really, wasn't sure what I'd achieve with it.

I started this because I was helping some new traders learn and suggested this exercise and thought I'd better do it too. I wasn't sure what I'd learn or if it would achieve anything for me.

I actually learned a great deal from the 5 grander in these 4 months, it's helped me hone my trading style and be less attached to stocks. I realised if I wanted it to grow quickly I needed to be actively trading more than I usually do.

At one point the 5 grander was worth $7,200 only about in November I think, was stuck in a few stocks that are great but aren't moving right now and I was making profits on other stocks that were, so I sold those 5 grander stocks for quite a loss at the time and moved into others.

This was the turning point for me and my 5 Grander, if i didn't do that, then my 5 Grander would still be worth only $7k as those stocks are still the same price and less today, rather than it's current worth of $48k. So that was a really good education lesson for me as a trader, sometimes can fall complacent and get caught up in Fundamentals of a company. But it comes down to the type of trader you are and can be (time constraints, mental strength, analytical ability) and what you want to achieve.

Everyone has their own style and ability, it's what I really like about the 5 Grander thread, seeing all the different posters with their styles, everyones different; the stocks people are in, the style of trading. It's not a competition with each other, you only compete with yourself. But I like seeing what others are doing, I don't pay too much attention to it, but it's good to see other styles and maybe sometimes you can find something to adapt to your own if it works for you.

My goal for the 5 grander is to continue compounding it and see how far it can grow in 12 months, so far 4 months in and I'm pretty happy with it's progress.
