"Fair, just seems for the projected need for Gas in years to come to sell at todays prices may not fully benefit(may go other way to)...Is their an increase in price option in this contract if prices triple in years to come????...Still a great contract to have(Billion $'s a year for 17) plus other projects....To finance project they prob had to lock in contract or loose it.......

Getting back to this .. a bit of an update from today's AFR p73. (I will only post the relevant bits)


"Woodside stalls on new gas supply deals

The North West Shelf Venture, Australia's biggest LNG project, said it may delay signing new fuel supply contracts with customers because it expects prices to rise.

The project operated by Woodside is halting further agreements until closer to the start-up of its fifth production line scheduled for the 4th qtr 2008 ....

.... Two accords poised to be signed by existing Japanese customers will go ahead ....

... the NWSV is increasing output to benefit from soaring demand in Japan, Sth Korea and China. The price of Australian LNG shipped to Japan has gained 89% since April 2002 ......

... demand outpaces additional supply in countries including Qatar, Nigeria ....

... we may decide that there's a better chance for us if we wait until the last moment .. rather than if we put them away on a longer-term basis "




To cut a long story short, these guys are aware of the supply / demand situation and know what to do to maximise the opportunity.
More reasons to put some money on WPL and just sit on your ar*se for the next 20 years.
